In Love! With Everyday Minerals
Be prewarned. This is going to be a long one.
One of best things to happen to me makeup-wise in the last few months, has been the discovery of Everyday Minerals. I discovered it on my journey to find my perfect mineral foundation. Unfortunately it didn't work out for me with their mineral foundation, because my hyper sensitive skin seems to be a snob that prefers to have nothing but Korres foundations grace it. And so of course I broke out and my skin itched like mad, but it did lead me to my beloved Korres Mineral Foundation. I probably would have moved on and never shopped there again, if not for what I consider a rather unique selling style, that is, they have weekly (now daily I believe) promos where you can get mini sizes of their products for free with a minimum purchase, usually $21 and lately as little as a $10 purchase. This is an absolutely brilliant marketing strategy because 1. Their products and superb which will keep you coming back and 2. Their price point is excellent, which will also keep you coming back. So this was the beginning of a pretty unhealthy addiction for my bank account, but one that is so worth it whenever I think of what I'm saving and getting in comparison to other brands.
In my first order I stumbled onto a promo for a free shadow set and added it to my cart. When the shadows came, I received Comfy, Take Out, Wine Tasting and Ginger Peach in their travel sizes and I was instantly hooked. Over the last month or so I've placed almost $200 in orders, which is a lot because their product price points rarely go above $9 per item, the most expensive things that they have are their brushes which run about $11-$14.
OK, so. As I said the thing that got me going back was how great the shadows that I got in the promo were. Then I got hooked on their blushes from another promo, darn you Everyday Minerals! But no really, the colours are awesome and the powders are so finely milled and very buildable. I was never one for blushes til I actually tried EM blushes and while I now have two Tarte blushes, a MAC blush and one MUFE blush with another two NYX HD Grinding blushes on the way, I have eight EM blushes. Pictures after the jump.

Elf Mineral Infused Primer
One of the things I was most excited to try was the Elf Mineral Infused Primer, or as it's now listed on the site Elf Studio Mineral Face Primer. Why the name change? I haven't a clue. In any case, super overjoyed to get this product, it was probably the Elf package I was most excited to receive, and that's saying something since I'm always excited to receive any package and an Elf package in particular. After receiving and using for about a week, I have to say that I was more than a little disappointed with it. More after the jump.

Seaweed Mattifying Face Creme
I’m always on the hunt for a good primer or anything that can be used as a primer, most primers that I’ve tried have fallen way short and within an hour I’m usually looking like an oil slick, I think that I may have found a suitable primer stand in however.
My problem zones are my nose and the apples of my cheeks, while my forehead is perfect and around my mouth and my chin are very dry. A few weeks ago I started using a mist and set spray, and while it kept my makeup in place, after about two days, I started to notice that it had broken me out in fine little bumps all over my cheeks and nose, my skin looked rough (what I like to call alligator skin) and my skin’s oil production in those areas had increased to about twice what it normally is. I was unable to use my night creme because it was too heavy and exacerbated the problems and I ended up with whiteheads. I decided to look for something much lighter to use both day and night while my skin healed, and the only place that I knew of where I could get something like that, which would also promote healthy skin renewal was the body shop. So that’s where I went and the salesgirl recommended their Seaweed Line. After looking over all the other lines in the store, I did eventually buy the Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream. I’ve been using it for about two weeks now, and I have a few thoughts on the product after the jump.

Korres Mineral Foundation Review
Anyone that knows me, knows that I pimp Korres foundations and skincare products with a vengeance. One of the reasons is because as a brown girl with golden rather than yellow undertones and crazy sensitive skin, it’s harder than you would think to find foundations that match well. Most companies make foundations and powders with red/orange/pink undertones and very few have a wide range of yellow undertone foundations with the exception of MAC, but I’ve gone from an NC42 to NW45 and various combinations in one season, and I can feel it on my face which I dislike intensely. I also hate full coverage, and prefer a dewy finish, so when I walked into Sephora looking for something new that fulfilled all my needs and the makeup artist led me to the Korres counter, I walked out a believer. And a pimp. Because Korres is a Greek brand, the undertones are ONLY gold and yellow, and they tend to be a bit on the darker shade side because well, Greeks tend to be more olive toned, however the foundations are pretty workable because of the very sheer coverage and they blend in extremely well (pictures below after the jump). So if you’re not a gold or yellow undertone, with this brand you’re probably out of luck.
